LEGAL CLINIC

Good afternoon Cremelawyer, i have been following your post for a while through the Naijahottest gist forum, i have a lot of questions to ask.

I think i should start by telling you that i am a single mother who got pregnant to a man through  forced sex several years, i gave birth to my daughter ten years ago , she is in JSS1 now.

I have been financing her all this while without the support of this man  but my fear now is that people keep telling me he will soon claim his child. We communicate once in a while but there is no contribution from him.

I am considering changing my daughter’s surname , raise the child to hate him or take the man to court. Please advise me on this issue.

Thanks

  1. 1. Law and Moralty are connected so i will first address the issue of *change of name, there’s no point changing the child’s name as this makes no difference nor change who the father is.

    2. From your question i can see you communicate with the man, i will advise you raise the issue on how to share responsibilities since there’s no dispute to paternity, you can do this via email for record purpose .If after these he still didn’t do anything sue him through a legal practitioner and what are you suing for? Necessaries.

Necessaries according to the legal dictionary are things indispensable and useful for the sustenance of human life.

    Thank you
