name) , i want to start by thanking Oyenike for this opportunity, it is first
of its kind, i am learning from the blog and look forward to
reading it daily,Kudos.
My question goes thus, i am a
civil servant in Lagos state, i have been saving up to buy land in Mowe area of
Ogun State because i learnt the land are quite cheap now but my problem now is
that i am afraid of buying from the wrong person, what are the things i need to
look out for and can you help. Thank you.

The first thing to look out for is to conduct search at the land registry ,Abeokuta in this case this can be done through the help of a lawyer, find out if the land is free from government acquisition,if yes, then the appropriate person to sell to you is either a family or a registered company who has bought from the family because most land are family property.
To buy family property the appropriate person to sell is the family help and some prominent members of the family, the most important person is the FAMILY HEAD.
The family will issue you a family receipt , get a lawyer to draft a deed (an agreement) stating those selling, the buyer, the title .............
after that your lawyer will guide on the necessary steps to perfection of legal document (C OF O)
