MAN ARRAIGNED FOR PEEPING AT FEMALE NEIGHBOR

A 36 years old barber, Azeez Adewale , was on wednesday arraigned before an Oshodi Magistrate court sitting in Lagos for allegedly peeping at his female neighbor while she was having her bath.

The prosecutor while testifying said , Adewale committed the offence on May 17 at his residence , adding that he was caught peeping at his neighbor, one Miss Victoria Emmanuel while taking her bath in the bathroom.

The accused sneaked behind her and peeped through the tiny hole while she was having her bath in the bathroom, while she was having her bath she sighted an eye looking at her through a small hole in the bathroom and she poured soap water on the eye.
The accused forcefully opened the bathroom door , descended on the complainant by punching her severally on her face, and she quickly shouted for help and neighbors came to her rescue.

The offences contravened Section 166 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011

I am sure before now most people don't know that peeping at another person's wife/husband while bathing is an offence, a lot of people are guilty of these .

So what offence has the accused committed if found guilty?

Section 166 (d) of the Criminal Justice Law of Lagos state define Disorderly person as every person who, conducts himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace. This section further prescribe punishment for any one found guilty by virtue of Section 166 (2) a person found to be a disorderly person is guilty of misdemeanor and liable for imprisonment for three months or fine .

Section 171 of the Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State any person who unlawfully assaults and occasioning harm thereby does him harm is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment of three years.

Stop peeping if you are in the habit of doing this.

Thank you
