EBOLA: YELLOW CARD

The major challenge facing West African countries and the rest of the world lately is the EBOLA outbreak, which is deadlier than AIDS as it’s contagious and kills fast. Ebola itself is defined as an infectious and generally fatal disease marked by fever and severe internal bleeding, spreading through contact infected body fluid by a filovirus whose normal species is unknown.

This virus has made most countries close its border against those countries affected and where a country cannot close its border it requires from travellers’ certain conditions that must be met before such traveller can gain entry into the country. This has nothing to do with discrimination or Racism because if they don’t protect their citizens who will....lol

One of many requirements is the YELLOW HEALTH CARD,

this has been a requirement for entry long before now in fact it’s as old as when the malaria/yellow fever outbreak came. You should receive a yellow card called the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) to prove that you have had yellow fever vaccine. Some countries require all travelers to show proof of yellow fever vaccination before they can enter the country. Other countries require proof of vaccination only if travelers have been in a risk area, so if you are visiting multiple countries, the order of travel may be important. Proof of vaccination is not valid until 10 days after you get the vaccine, so plan to get the vaccine early if you need it.

Where to obtain a YELLOW HEALTH CARD in Nigeria? The Federal government in September 2013 through its Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu  kicked the issuance YHC  at the sum of N1,000.This available in portal services offices in  airports  and Primary Health Services across the country. Please endeavour to collect yours before embarking on any journey abroad to avoid embarrassment.

Now we know yellow card is not limited to football only.Wash your hand regularly.

Have an EBOLA free weekend.

Thank you.
